Changelog

Now on v1.9.2, released

Releases

v1.9.2

  • ImprovedBills with a linked payee now clear themselves whatever the amount. Link the payee on a bill that varies month to month, like a utility, and it ticks off as soon as the payment lands in YNAB.
  • FixedFixed the card debt line hiding what you owe on one card when you pay down another. Each card you pay over time now shows its own debt and its own note when no payment is scheduled.
  • FixedFixed card charges in the credit card breakdown saying Necessities covered them when a bill did.
  • FixedFixed the credit card breakdown's totals counting card charges as covered when nothing had been set aside for them.
  • RemovedRemoved the auto-clear setting. Bills no longer tick themselves off just because a due date passed: they clear when the payment shows in YNAB, or when you tick them.

v1.9.1

  • ImprovedSee at a glance which bills you ticked off and which ones Moneylight ticked for you. A check Moneylight added is greyed with a wavy underline, so a week never looks settled on a payment nobody confirmed. Click it to put the bill back.
  • ImprovedGet a heads-up when a YNAB category is already tracked on the other list. A category held as both a bill and a necessity comes off your forecast twice, and both the import screen and the add form now flag it before you save.
  • FixedFixed bills paid at the end of a month showing as unpaid through the first days of the next one. They tick themselves off as soon as the payment shows in YNAB, so that week's balance reads right.
  • FixedFixed bills ticking themselves off before the money moved. A charge you entered in YNAB for later in the month no longer counts as paid, so a week only looks clear once the payment has really left your account.
  • FixedFixed the autopay bolt promising bills would tick themselves off even when auto-clear was switched off in Settings. The bolt now says which bills Moneylight will clear for you and which are yours to mark paid.
  • FixedFixed losing your whole category selection when you went back or reloaded partway through a YNAB import. Your picks come back on the details step, so you no longer start the import over.

v1.9.0

  • NewClear out a bill, paycheck, necessity or savings rule for good. Deactivate it first, as always, and a Delete button appears on the inactive row. Deleting tells you exactly what goes with it, such as paid marks and one-off amount changes, before you confirm.
  • NewFind a category fast when importing from YNAB. Type part of a name on either import screen and the list narrows to what matches, with Select All limited to the rows you can see. Your ticked categories stay ticked while you search.

v1.8.2

  • FixedBills and paychecks set to repeat Twice a Month now land on the date you enter, plus a second date 15 days apart in the same month, just like YNAB. The screens where you set the date explain the rule.

v1.8.1

  • ImprovedAdding a bill now shows the same guidance you already get when editing one, including what the due date and the optional start and end dates actually do.
  • ImprovedLow-balance weeks are easier to read. The amber ending balance on a week that is getting low now stands out more clearly against the green balance bar.
  • FixedFixed the Next Paycheck summary card showing a dash while upcoming paychecks were still in your forecast. It now shows your next pay date.
  • FixedScreen readers now read the help text on the Paychecks, Bills, Necessities and Settings forms, and announce the autopay and credit card icons in your forecast. Both were skipped silently before.

v1.8.0

  • NewTry Moneylight before connecting YNAB. A new interactive demo lets you explore a complete weekly forecast using sample data. Mark bills paid, move paychecks, add expenses, or plan extra card payments and see how your forecast changes. No signup or YNAB connection required.

v1.7.1

  • ImprovedEvery symbol and tag in the forecast is now explained in one place. Credit card tags are now included under What the symbols mean, so you can quickly look up their meaning without opening a week's CC Balance breakdown.
  • ImprovedSavings Transfer and One-off Items now start collapsed by default. This keeps each week focused on the numbers most people check first, while still showing each section's total. If you've already chosen your own collapse preferences, they'll be preserved.
  • FixedFixed an issue where summary card balances could be cut off at certain window sizes. The summary cards now wrap into two rows when needed, keeping balances visible while the Refresh from YNAB button stays beside the week selector until there's no longer enough room.

v1.7.0

  • NewCollapse sections you are not using to simplify your forecast. Paychecks, Bills Due, Necessities, Savings Transfer, One-off Items, Card Payments, and CC Balance can all be collapsed across every week with a single click. Your choice is remembered, and each collapsed section still shows its total so you can focus on the numbers that matter.
  • ImprovedIf you use more than one credit card, the forecast now keeps them clearly separated. Every scheduled charge in the CC Balance breakdown is labeled with its card, and the breakdown opens with a summary of what each card currently owes.

v1.6.0

  • NewPlan extra credit card payments and see how paying down debt reshapes your cash flow. On any card you pay over time, add an extra payment to a week and your forecast updates instantly: your balance reflects the money going out, and your remaining card debt steps down toward payoff.

v1.5.0

  • NewTrack credit cards you pay down over time. Mark a card as one you make payments on, and instead of subtracting its full balance every week, your forecast shows that balance as debt and counts your scheduled YNAB payment as the real outflow. Cards you pay in full each month are unchanged.
  • ImprovedA fresh, calmer look across the app: cleaner typography, softer colors, and a clearer button hierarchy. Your forecast now opens with the numbers that matter most, current balance, lowest week ahead, and next paycheck, as cards above the chart. Log Out is one click away in the sidebar on every page.
  • ImprovedImporting categories from YNAB is easier on long lists: collapse or expand all category groups at once.

v1.4.0

  • ImprovedWhen YNAB is slow or down, your forecast no longer spins endlessly. It stops waiting and tells you what happened, then comes straight back once YNAB recovers.
  • ImprovedSee your money the way your YNAB plan shows it. Plans in euros, pounds, yen, and every other YNAB currency now display with their own symbol and number style, and amounts you type follow the same rules. Dollar plans look exactly as before.
  • FixedSigning up with more than one YNAB plan now walks you straight into setup. Before, finishing checkout could strand you on your account page with no clear next step. Now you pick the plan to mirror and get your setup checklist.

v1.3.0

  • NewFinish setup and land straight on your forecast. Once your accounts, paychecks, and bills are in place, you go right to the forecast instead of another settings page.
  • NewIf your trial ends before you add a card, you'll get an email with a link to pick up where you left off. Pay your first invoice and your forecast comes right back.
  • ImprovedManage pages now show short hints, like what the due date and effective dates mean, and dropdown placeholders are easier to read.
  • ImprovedClearer wording throughout: the paid checkmark explains why a bill is marked paid, the chart labels its "Lowest point," and outage messages no longer blame your internet. The footer version number now links to this changelog.
  • ImprovedThe forecast grid now has a "What the symbols mean" legend below the weeks, so checkmarks, badges, and strikethroughs are explained on phones too.
  • ImprovedWeeks that dip below your Warn threshold now show a "getting low" badge, not just an amber tint. Tooltips on paid bills and received paychecks explain that the money has already moved.
  • ImprovedRefresh your plan list from YNAB on the Plans page, so a plan you just created shows up without reconnecting.
  • ImprovedWording now matches YNAB: schedules are labeled "Repeats" instead of "Cadence," and extra entries are "one-off items." The Account page also shows which timezone your forecast uses.
  • ImprovedSmall quality-of-life fixes: marking a bill paid with the keyboard keeps your place, the duplicate warning now offers "Go Back and Edit" without losing what you typed, and small tap targets are easier to hit on phones.
  • ImprovedThe trial-ending banner now notices when you've already added a card and switches to a simple heads-up that your subscription starts automatically, instead of asking again.
  • ImprovedYour Account page now shows your subscription details: when your trial ends, your plan and price, and your renewal or end date.
  • ImprovedAfter checkout, a "Go to Your Forecast" button takes you straight into your forecast instead of stopping at the receipt.
  • FixedAmounts typed in European formats like 1.234,56 are now rejected with a clear message instead of being misread as a smaller number. Amounts are USD, like 1,234.56.
  • FixedImporting bills now asks for each bill's next due date up front, so a blank date can no longer drop every imported bill into the current week.
  • FixedSetting your Danger threshold above your Warn threshold is now caught on the settings page, instead of silently making the amber warning unreachable.

v1.2.1

  • ImprovedLinking a bill to a YNAB payee is now a search box: start typing and pick from matches instead of scrolling one long dropdown. The Bills page also loads much faster for plans with many payees.
  • FixedImport pickers now open with every category group expanded, and Continue stays disabled until you've selected at least one category, so you can't submit an empty selection by accident.
  • FixedThe Remove confirmation now works every time, not just once per page load. You can delete several one-off items in a row without reloading.

v1.2.0

  • NewRefer a friend from your Account page. Share your link or code, and when someone you refer becomes a paying subscriber, you get a free month credited to your next bill.

v1.1.1

  • ImprovedThe forecast now explains why a week can end lower than the next begins: your Ending balance subtracts what you owe on cards, while Starting funds is your cash before the card.
  • ImprovedThe forecast's inline controls, clickable dates and amounts and the paid checkboxes, are now fully keyboard and screen-reader accessible, with your cursor landing right in the field.

v1.1.0

  • ImprovedNew plans now guide you through setup: after connecting you land on account selection, an empty forecast shows a clear next step, and picking your first account takes you to your live balances.
  • ImprovedA setup checklist shows what's done and what's left, choose accounts, add paychecks, import bills and necessities, with a link to each step and a gentle reminder on the forecast until the essentials are in place.
  • ImprovedImporting bills and necessities from YNAB now pre-fills each amount from that category's budgeted or goal figure, so items arrive with real numbers instead of $0.

v1.0.1

  • ImprovedImporting bills or necessities from YNAB is now two steps: pick the categories you want, then fill in details for just those. Much easier on large plans.
  • FixedFixed an error that blocked importing from YNAB plans with around 200 or more categories.
  • FixedUnchecking a category during import now reliably leaves it out, so a deselected row can't block the whole import.
  • FixedFixed an error where a very long name or label could fail to save and lose what you had typed.
  • FixedFixed a rare error where a mistyped far-future date on a bill could stop the Bills page from loading.
  • FixedFixed a confusing pair of messages shown when YNAB could not be reached partway through an import.

v1.0.0

  • NewSee a forward-looking weekly forecast of your cash flow, built from your real YNAB budget.
  • NewConnect securely through YNAB's official sign-in. Moneylight only ever reads your budget and never changes it.

  • NewTrack upcoming bills, paychecks, everyday spending, and savings, each on its own real-world schedule.

  • NewSee how credit card spending and upcoming card payments affect your true available balance.
  • NewSet everyday spending by week, every two weeks, twice a month, or monthly, and let Moneylight handle the math.
  • NewLet autopay bills clear themselves automatically once they're past due, or keep marking them paid by hand.
  • NewChoose how many weeks ahead you want to forecast.
  • NewCatch tight weeks early with color-coded low-balance warnings at thresholds you set.
  • NewRead your balance trajectory at a glance with a visual forecast chart.
  • NewDisconnect YNAB or delete your account and all its data whenever you want.
