Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Moneylight, a cash-flow forecasting tool for YNAB users available at moneylight.app and app.moneylight.app (the "Service"). Moneylight is operated by Sage Canyon Labs LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Service

Moneylight reads your YNAB Plan and projects it forward week by week, showing each upcoming week's ending balance so you can see a tight week before it arrives. The forecast is a planning aid built from the data in your YNAB Plan and the assumptions it contains. It is informational only and is not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. You are responsible for the decisions you make using it.

Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. The Service is offered from and intended for users in the United States. We make no representation that it is appropriate or available for use outside the United States. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Notify us at hello@moneylight.app if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

Connecting your YNAB account

Moneylight works by connecting to your YNAB account through YNAB's official OAuth API. You authorize that connection on YNAB's own consent screen, and you can revoke it at any time from your YNAB account settings. Moneylight never asks for or stores your YNAB password or bank login credentials. Your use of YNAB is governed by YNAB's own terms, and the accuracy of any forecast depends on the data and scheduled transactions in your YNAB Plan. How we handle the data accessed through YNAB is described in our Privacy Policy.

Subscriptions, the free trial, and billing

Plans and pricing

Moneylight is normally a paid subscription. The current plans are $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year (the annual plan is roughly two months free). While the offer is open, you can also buy one-time Lifetime Access, described in its own section below. Prices are in U.S. dollars and exclude any applicable taxes, which are calculated and added at checkout where required.

Free trial

New paid subscriptions begin with a 14-day free trial. We do not require a payment method to start the trial. If you add a payment method and do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription begins and your first charge is taken at that point. If you do not add a payment method when the trial ends, an invoice is issued, your subscription goes past due, and access pauses until that invoice is paid. The subscription is not deleted, so paying the invoice restores your access.

The free trial is available once per account. If you have already used your trial, a new subscription starts and is billed immediately.

Auto-renewal

Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly for the monthly plan, yearly for the annual plan) at the then-current price, until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize us, through our payment processor, to charge your payment method for each renewal.

Payments through Stripe

Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. Your card details are entered on Stripe's hosted checkout and are handled entirely by Stripe; they never touch our servers. Managing or updating your payment method also happens through Stripe's hosted billing portal. Promotional or discount codes apply only where we offer them and only on the terms stated when offered.

Charges appear on your card or bank statement as Sage Canyon Labs, the company that operates Moneylight, rather than as Moneylight. If you are reviewing a statement and do not recognize the charge, that is why.

Lifetime Access

While the offer is open, you can buy Lifetime Access instead of subscribing: a one-time payment of $49.99 that gives you permanent access to Moneylight, including all future updates. There are no subscriptions, renewals, or recurring charges. It is paid by card, and any applicable sales tax is added at checkout. It is limited to 100 licenses, and it ends when all are claimed or on December 31, 2026, whichever comes first. Both limits are enforced when you check out, so the offer can close at any time without notice.

What "lifetime" means

Lifetime Access refers to the lifetime of the Moneylight service, not your lifetime. Your access lasts for as long as we operate Moneylight. If Moneylight is ever discontinued, your access will end with it. We are not promising to run Moneylight forever, and you should treat the purchase as buying the product as it exists today, plus whatever we ship while it is running.

One account, not transferable

The license is tied to the single Moneylight account that bought it. It cannot be sold, gifted, assigned, or moved to another account.

Deleting your account forfeits the license

If you delete your Moneylight account, your Lifetime Access is permanently destroyed along with it. There is no refund and no way to restore it, and buying a new license later is subject to the offer still being open. The app warns you about this before you confirm a deletion. If you only want to stop Moneylight from reading your YNAB data, disconnect YNAB instead of deleting your account, which leaves your license intact.

Buying it while on a trial or a subscription

Buying Lifetime Access ends any subscription on your account, because you no longer need one. If you are an actively paying subscriber, your subscription is canceled at the end of the period you have already paid for, so you lose nothing you paid for. If you are on a free trial or your subscription is past due, it is canceled immediately and any open invoice is voided, so you are not billed for it.

Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel at any time from the billing portal inside your Moneylight account. When you cancel, your subscription stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and it does not renew after that. You will not be charged again once you cancel.

Payments already made are non-refundable, and we do not provide partial refunds for the unused part of a billing period, except where a refund is required by law. The 14-day free trial is there so you can evaluate Moneylight before any charge is taken.

The same applies to the one-time Lifetime Access purchase: all sales are final, and the $49.99 payment is non-refundable except where a refund is required by law. Every buyer has the 14-day free trial available first, so you can decide whether Moneylight is worth it before you pay anything. Deleting your account after buying does not entitle you to a refund.

Ownership and license

The Service, including its software, design, text, and other content we provide (other than your own data and the data you access through YNAB), is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own personal or internal business use. You keep all rights to your own data.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you will not attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours, probe or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure, reverse engineer or copy the Service except where the law allows it, or use the Service to break the law or to infringe anyone's rights. We may suspend or terminate access that violates these Terms or that puts the Service or other users at risk.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent allowed by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any forecast will be accurate or complete. Forecasts are estimates based on the data in your YNAB Plan, and they are not a guarantee of your actual future balances. Always confirm important financial decisions against your real accounts.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, lost savings, or financial losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

Changes to the Service and to these Terms

We may change, add, or remove features over time, and we may change pricing for future billing periods with reasonable notice before a change takes effect. We may also update these Terms. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we will give notice through the Service or by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

Termination

You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms or if we need to for legal or security reasons. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; the sections that by their nature should survive (such as billing for amounts already due, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you and we consent to that jurisdiction.

Miscellaneous

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and replace any prior agreements on that subject. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the rest will remain in full effect. Our failure to enforce any part of these Terms is not a waiver of our right to do so later. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, agency, or employment relationship between you and us.
